    St. Mary's College Shirva, in collaboration with the Karavali Institute of Fire And Safty and Engineering (KIFSE), organized an impactful event to equip college students with essential CPR and First Aid skills. In a bid to foster a culture of safety and preparedness, the event offered students a hands-on experience in life-saving techniques. The training session covered fundamental concepts of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and comprehensive guidance on providing crucial First Aid in emergency situations. Students eagerly participated in the interactive sessions, gaining practical knowledge on administering CPR and rendering initial aid until professional medical assistance arrives. The event aimed to not only enhance students' understanding of emergency response but also instill the confidence to act effectively in critical situations. College authorities, faculty, and students expressed their appreciation for the partnership between St. Mary's College Shirva and KIFSE. This collaborative effort demonstrates a commitment to the well-being of students and the wider community, underlining the significance of basic life-saving skills. The successful event emphasized the importance of empowering young adults with the tools and knowledge to respond effectively to unexpected health crises, further reinforcing the values of community and preparedness.
  • Food For Thought through Nutrition

    On the 22nd of July, 2023, St. Lawrence Kannada High School at Moodubelle received an in-depth understanding of food habits and patterns for a holistic and healthy development. This was made possible by a group of 10 interns from the Department of Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics, Manipal Academy of Higher Education with an informative and resourceful presentation, followed by an interactive session with the students gathered. The group was headed by Jeffry John and Dhanya Veeresh, who curated the entire content in regional languages to connect better with the audience. The topics included healthy eating, deficiency symptoms and signs along with patterns of nutrition.

    On the 24th of June 2023, the Beyond Schools Team organized a CPR skill and First Aid workshop at St Lawrence Kannada Medium High School, Moodubelle. The session was conducted by Alwyn D'Lima, from Karavali Institute of Fire & Safety Engineering (KIFSE), Dr B R Bhat, a certified Doctor, Valarian and Alfreeda Almeida, a trained Nurse and a representative from Beyond Schools. The program emphasized the techniques necessary for a successful CPR and First Aid intervention in times of need and to be a contributing member of society.
  • Imparting Life Skills for an Impactful Life Ahead!

    The Psychoeducational event, held on the 13th of June at S.V.S English Medium High School, Katapady, Udupi, aimed to enhance understanding and self-awareness through interacting sessions, backed by concepts and techniques from Psychology. The program was led and sponsored by the Founding Members of the Sākār Foundation, Keithan and Keisha Pai, along with Mentor and Trustee, Veeda Almeida and Krishna Pai who is also the CEO, of Invenger Technologies Pvt Ltd. B Rashmi Mallya and Ashel Castellino, students majoring in Clinical Psychology at Manipal College of Health Professions, MAHE along with Nandakishore N M, a representative from Beyond Schools were the program facilitators. Awareness of social topics and their coping strategies were discussed in the session. Through the interactive workshop, students had the opportunity to learn practical techniques for improving emotional intelligence and fostering healthy relationships. The sessions encouraged active participation, allowing attendees to share experiences, exchange ideas, and gain valuable insights.
  • Navigating through Social World, a psychoeducational session

    On the 15th of June, the Beyond Schools team organised a psychoeducational session at St Mary’s PU College, Shirva which aimed at addressing different challenges and aspects of the Social World. The session was curated for young adults to equip them with the skills and qualities needed to succeed in all aspects of their lives.The event was led by Keithan and Keisha Pai, the founders of the Sākār Foundation along with mentor and trustee, Veeda Almeida. The session was facilitated by B Rashmi Mallya and Nandakishore N M, members of the Beyond Schools Program. Students from classes, 11th and 12th attended the event. The session, titled "My Social World," aimed to equip attendees with essential tools for navigating the challenges of academic and personal life. Through engaging presentations and interactive discussions, Rashmi, an aspiring psychologist, provided a comprehensive overview of necessary social skills. The session highlighted providing awareness of social challenges like Peer Pressure, Bullying and Body Positivity along with empowering young adults to deal with these issues through strategies and techniques based on psychology. The programme was aimed at providing valuable insights into effective communication, building healthy relationships, and fostering a positive social presence.
